Publication Notice: Mi-Hye Kim Ide
North Vancouver, B.C.
Posted April 25, 2016
Dr. Mi-Hye Kim Ide, who formerly practised as a general dentist in North Vancouver, has admitted that she engaged in professional misconduct by:
- providing Botox to patients contrary to published standards of practice;
- providing dermal fillers to patients, which is outside the scope of practice for dentists; and
- submitting falsified bills to dental insurers for the purposes of having treatments covered by the insurance plan.
She has consented to the following (this list reflects the redactions in the consent agreement and is, therefore, incomplete):
- A reprimand;
- Payment of $2,000 in costs;
- She will not apply for reinstatement as a dentist before March 2018;
- Before applying for reinstatement, she must successfully complete a College-approved professional ethics course;
- Her application for reinstatement will be reviewed by the Registration Committee
- The College will notify other dental regulatory bodies as required under its bylaws.
Dr. Kim Ide's consent agreement can be viewed below. It has been redacted to protect her privacy.
The consent agreement was accepted by the Inquiry Committee on August 25, 2015; publication was delayed for a number of months for administrative reasons.
Since the events in this decision occurred, Dr. Kim Ide’s registration as a dentist with CDSBC has lapsed and she is no longer able to practise dentistry and may not use the title of “doctor”.
