General Anaesthesia
All dentists or certified specialists who administer general anaesthesia must comply with the requirements outlined in CDSBC's:

Note: as of July 2019 required qualifactions (chapter 2, section 1) has been updated in the December 2016 addendum to GA Standards and Guidelines.

If you own a dental office and intend to administer general anaesthesia to your patients, you must register your qualifications with CDSBC and must apply to have your facility inspected by the College.- To register your qualifications, please complete the Application for Registration of Qualifications (PDF) and submit it to the College with the applicable fee (C$150). Please allow 2-3 months for your application to be processed.
- To apply for facility authorization, please complete the Application for Facility Authorization (PDF) and submit it to the College with the applicable fee (C$4,500). Facility inspection and authorization typically takes 6-8 months.

If you own a dental office, and intend for another dentist or physician to administer general anaesthesia, you must have your facility inspected by the College. Please be aware that you are responsible for ensuring that any visiting dentist or physician who provides sedation in your office has the appropriate qualifications.- To apply for facility authorization, please complete the Application for Facility Authorization (PDF) and submit it to the College with the applicable fee (C$4,500).
