The Board has approved the
annual renewal fees, and will hold the 2017/18 fees at last year’s levels.
There is a slight fee decrease (7 per cent) for some of the non-practising
categories that did not see a fee decrease last year. Registrants will receive
a renewal notice in the mail in the second week of January.
The deadline to complete your
annual renewal and submit your fees is 1 March 2017. Please note that if you do
not renew by 1 March you are not permitted to practise until you have
reinstated, and an additional reinstatement fee will apply. Click the link
below for more information about annual renewal, including changes to the
renewal process.
Note: During annual
renewal, dentists or CDAs who plan to retire must complete the online
renewal process and choose the ‘Retired/Resigned’ option. If you want your retirement
to be effective prior to 1 March 2017, please complete the Retirement/Registration
form and submit to CDSBC. Read steps for retiring/resigning dentists here.

The Inquiry Committee’s concerns with Dr. Mansour
Foomani’s understanding of dentist/patient boundaries has resulted in
limitations being placed on his practice. Dr. Foomani is a general
dentist who practises in Victoria.
The Inquiry Committee considered his
unprofessional behaviour to be a serious matter under the Health
Professions Act, and for this reason, ordered that a summary be
published pursuant to section 39.3 of the Act.

The College has changed its process with
respect to dental practice trade names following a public consultation this
fall. We will no longer require registrants to seek approval for trade names
for dental practices. We will continue to provide consent to the BC Corporate
Registry, provided that the applicant is a registrant and entitled to use
dentistry-related words, and that the trade name is in compliance with Bylaw
12.

If you have submitted credits
and are waiting for them to be processed, please note that it is currently
taking up to four weeks to process submissions.
