Events & Engagement
At CDSBC, we are committed to ethical, open and transparent regulation. Our priority is to enable our registrants to provide safe and ethical care to patients. Identifying meaningful ways to connect with our stakeholders is an important part of achieving this.
CDSBC has four groups of key stakeholders*, including the:
People we serve | Professionals we regulate |
Authorities that oversee us | Organizations we work with |
Our approach to engaging with each of the groups above is defined in our Communications and Engagement Strategy.
*Although this page uses the common term “stakeholders" to encompass our audiences, it is important to note that Indigenous people are “rights-holders" .
2021 Events
Engaging with and building positive relationships with our stakeholders is a priority for us. We look forward to welcoming you at one of our upcoming events.
Note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person events are postponed until further notice.

Research Initiatives
We regularly conduct meaningful research and survey our stakeholders to gather information on how we can enhance our regulatory efforts.
Some of our current and recent research initiatives are included below.

[accordion title="Voice%20of%20Patient%20Program"]
In April 2021 we launched the “Voice of Patient" research program, beginning with a survey of up to 2,000 B.C. residents that asks about their experiences as dental patients, and about their perceptions of how dentistry is regulated. Smaller surveys will be conducted on a regular basis to inform CDSBC in the following areas:
- complaints management and processes
- public perceptions of CDSBC and dentistry in BC
- other areas of interest
Collecting data from patients and the public in this way will inform our communications and engagement activities and will provide us with new insights on the effectiveness of our public protection efforts.
Results

results of our initial baseline survey.

[accordion title="Stakeholder%20Mapping"]
Effective engagement with our stakeholders is essential to delivering on both the Action Plan in response to the Cayton Report, and CDSBC's strategic plan. In order to do so, we developed a stakeholder map, which is a visual way to identify, analyzing and responding to the communication needs of CDSBC's various stakeholder groups.
As part of the stakeholder mapping process, we surveyed both registrants and members of the public in order to learn how to better meet the needs and expectations of each group.
The stakeholder map informs our communications and engagement strategy.
